Position
Hawaii based environmental company is seeking a senior accountant who is detail oriented, technically capable in working with all balance sheet and income statement accounts in a multiple programs and contracts environment. Position is responsible for all day to day accounting functions, including GL, AP, Payroll, Benefit management and reconciliations. Quickbooks or Peachtree experience required with thorough understanding of GAAP. Applicants must have exceptional GL and technical accounting skills, can manage month-end to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, coordinates for annual audit and quarterly review, and can assist with other special projects as needed. This position will require frequent interface with internal/external contacts at various levels. Position works independently, in collaboration with Accounting Firm, senior management, external auditors and DoD. Must have a bachelor's in accounting and a minimum of 5 years experience in public accounting. Experience with Department of Defense accounting systems is a plus.
Required Skills and Experience: - Prepare budget, reports for Annual Report, and prepare and coordinate year end audit examinations
- Prepare and monitor the Internal/External monthly, quarterly and annual close cycle activities to include:
1) Preparation and coordination of PMR with Financial Forecasting
2) active participation in close meetings days
- Review HITS level Monthly/Quarterly/Annual financial schedules and reports
- Prepare HITS level consolidation adjustments on a monthly/quarterly basis
- Assist in the preparation and review of trended Balance Sheet and Income Statement
- INS segment consolidation and reporting:
1)Compilation and review of quarterly and annual schedules
2)support Financial Reporting lead with issue resolution and logistics
3)assist with intercompany reporting
- Develop/Implement standards around workpaper/reconciliation preparation and Financial Statement review for Accounting Department - to include documentation and training sessions
- Investigate improvements and streamlining of processes surrounding monitoring of financial results and financial reporting (internal and external)
- Work collaboratively with other cross functional areas to create "New Entity integration playbook"
- Assist in responses to Internal & external audit requests (including DCAA) for consistency
- Support compliance requirements under GAAP, IFRS and other applicable regulatory authorities
- Ensure compliance with existing internal key controls around integration of acquisitions and consolidated reporting
- Complete approved professional development training courses
- Contribute to the Business Rhythm around the financial reporting cycle
- Work cross functionally within the Accounting department, subsidiaries and other business areas (contracts, GSS, Tax, HR, Compliance, Financial Planning) to ensure proper reporting and adherence to established accounting standards and conventions
- Ensuring that the reporting and reconciliations of G/L accounts are in accordance with proper rules and regulations including GAAP, AICPA, PCAOB, FASB, DFAS, and SEC
- On an ad hoc basis assist with General Accounting responsibilities
- Reviews general ledger accounts and prepares and adjusts journal entries.
- Performs account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.
- Maintains the general ledger chart of accounts. Assists with initial internal control evaluations.
- Prepare various government reports
Requirements
- BA in Accounting
- CPA

Minimum 5+ years of direct relevant experience.
- Proficient in Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Peachtree, Hyperion (or other major accounting program)
- Ability to work within DoD accounting systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Accounting
- Solid core accounting experience in major business cycles to include workpaper preparation and documentation
- Prior work experience in a Public Company environment including awareness of audit requirements
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize work
- Team player and leader, detail oriented, flexible, problem solver
- Good communication and analytical skills
- Effective organizational skills, self-starter, solutions driven, positive attitude, ability to multitask and work in an evolving accounting department is essential
- Advanced Microsoft Excel / Word
Preferred Additional Skills:
- PeopleSoft Financial Systems experience
- Government contract accounting experience
- Public accounting audit experience
- Hyperion Financial Management experience
